What we do
and why we do it

Our participants receive intensive training from expert instructors every weeknight from 6-10pm, working toward full NFPT and NSAA certifications. Once trained, we cover all fees, schedule all exams and provide dedicated mentorship every step of the way.

After certification, our commitment to each participant continues. In partnership with our financial partner, the World Water Film Festival, we open doors with employment opportunities at Fit Body Nation, other top NYC corporate gyms, environmental organizations and beyond.

SECOND CHANCES

Meet our founder, Danny White. During his eight years of incarceration, Danny transformed his circumstances by immersing himself in physical training and holistic wellness. Upon release, Danny channeled his self-driven education into formal training and earned an impressive 6 professional certifications across training, wellness, prenatal and postnatal fitness, stretching, and exercise. He then launched FitBody Nation: a thriving neighborhood gym that's become a beacon of transformation, especially beloved by older adults who've rediscovered their strength, power, and confidence.

At Fitbodycares, we're committed to breaking cycles and building futures by equipping formerly incarcerated individuals with the certifications, knowledge, and entrepreneurial tools they need to create meaningful, rewarding careers in fitness and beyond.

Our Advisory board

  • Danny White

    Our founder, Danny, is a formerly incarcerated entrepreneur who transformed his life through fitness and wellness, earning six professional certifications and launching FitBody Nation gym.

  • Robert Strand

    Robert is a philanthropist, environmental advocate, actor, filmmaker and the founder and Executive Director of global non–profit, World Water Film Festival (WWFF). Robert applies his 30-year background as a renowned Creative Brand Strategist and Licensing expert to his passion for water justice, leading him to build this film festival to focus on water.

    Prior to working for World Water Film Festival, Robert worked in branding and marketing at the NBA.

  • Kate Rigg

    Kate Rigg is an award-winning brand strategist, artist, and community leader who served on the Global Advisory Board for Times Up, the Joe's Pub Council, and works closely with the Asian American Arts Alliance. She is the creative director for the Over The Rhine International Film Festival-- the nation's only diversity film festival hosted by the disability community. She has written for and created events with the NYCLU, the Asian American Bar Association, the Ford Foundation's Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Justice International (GREJ-I) program, the Meteor, Heritage of Pride, and many more. She created and executive-produced television shows for Oxygen, Disney XD, and E!, and has consulted with brands such as The Whitney Museum, HP, Sony, Duolingo, and others. She also teaches stand-up comedy through Gotham Comedy Club and is producing a podcast for people with developmental disabilities.

  • Nicole Jimenez

    Nicole is a Clinical Psychology graduate with four years of disability support experience who serves as the mental health coach for Fitbodycares participants.
